Having sex for the first time is a big decision and one you should have thought about, talked about, laughed about and planned for. In a survey in 2002 67% of guys and 84% of young women who had sex at age 14 wished they had waited and regretted ever having sex for the first time. Reasons for doing so ranged from peer pressure, pressure from boyfriends/ girlfriends and because they though everyone else was
doing it.

The truth is that everyone else isn’t doing it and most young people wait until they are at least 16 before having sex for the first time. Think about it. If it doesn’t feel right then it probably isn’t right and won’t be any fun. You wont feel like this forever and one day you’ll know when its time.

If you are feeling under pressure by your partner ask yourself a few questions:-

  • Does he/she respect me?
  • Is he/she the right person?
  • Do you want to be in control?
  • If they threaten to dump you for saying no
    – are they worth it anyway?

Above all, it’s important to wait until you’re ready and forget what anyone else thinks.
